Based on the technology of our PW-1000 (1-meter) Observatory telescope, PlaneWave combines its revolutionary optical systems with its brand new innovative L-Series direct drive mount that sets a new standard for small observatory telescopes.

PlaneWave RC500 Telescope System f/6.8 consits of the RC20 and the L-500 Direct Drive Mount with integrated high resolution encoders and high speed slewing.

The PlaneWave Instruments RC 20 is a 20 inch (0.51 m) f/6.8 Ritchey-Chrétien (RC) Astrograph telescope. The instrument weight is 140 lbs (64 kg) and comes standard with a back plate retaining ring ready to accept the focuser of your choice.

The RC20 in its native format (no field flattening lenses) uses only a primary and secondary mirror with reflective coatings. This can be useful when making observations primarily on-axis and wide field imaging is not a concern.
