The Baader MBP is a mobile platform designed for transporting heavy telescope systems over short distances. Its resilient rubber wheels provide some protection against uneven ground during transport, allowing it to navigate surface irregularities of up to approximately 1 cm with relative ease. The platform is delivered with three ground inserts, which can either be permanently anchored to the ground to maintain the adjusted observation position or used as feet at the observation site when needed. It is essential to secure the platform at the observation site using the three leveling feet, locking them with the supplied wrench and nuts to eliminate any play in the large threads of the feet. With the leveling feet and the included bubble level, the platform can be leveled at the observation site.
The platform features numerous pre-drilled holes to directly accommodate Baader BHP and BMP pillars as well as the corresponding flanges. Additionally, other hole patterns are available to mount components such as Planewave piers or heavy azimuthal telescope systems like the CDK700. The maximum stationary load capacity is approximately 800 kg. For transport purposes, the platform can carry loads of up to 600 kg. However, at the respective locations, the leveling feet should always be extended for stability.
The shipping crate for the Baader MBP is included in the delivery. The wooden crate is designed so that the lid can fold down into a ramp, allowing the MBP to be rolled off and, if necessary, back onto the crate.
If a Baader BHP or BMP steel pillar is ordered in addition to the Baader MBP, the shipping crate is modified in height to accommodate the mobile platform along with the mounted steel pillar.
